"Who could look into the eyes of such a miracle and doubt the reality of God." - Angela Thomas Guffey

Our baby girl, Maylin Dawn, was born on July 18th, 2010, 9 weeks early at Parkview North Hospital in Fort Wayne. She spent 3 weeks and 2 days in the NICU facility. We created this page to keep our family and friends informed of our new life adjustments and updates on Maylin's miracles during her stay there.

Maylin's 1st "day" in the world...

Later into the evening that she was born, I was moved into my postpartum room down the hall, and our little girl was upstairs in the NICU. I didn't get to see her again til 10 pm that night. Our nurse that night was Debbie...she was absolutely awesome!

This was her tag for on her bed
Her little feets:)

Day 2
Monday July 19th, 2010
Age: 1 Day Old
Gestation: 32 weeks, 2 days

First thing that morningBrock and I went up to see her again.

Check out her little foot in daddy's hand.
It's hard to see your little babe all wired up to who-knows-what, and monitors and IV lines all beeping and going off all the time. Over the course of the night they got her on a C-pap for breathing, which is basically tubes going in and out of her nose to help her breath, even though she was basically doing a lot of it on her own. Her lungs were amazingly developed and so strong. Her x-rays showed that they were fairly clear which is awesome for 31 weeks. All that junk on her head is basically just to keep the darn tube up to her nose!
They also ordered that evening that she should start "eating" every 3 hours so that meant me having to start getting my milk to come in. So there I was, pumping every. three. hours. It was hard since I didn't have her to "stimulate" me and get my milk to start coming in.

Later that evening was probably the happiest moment that Brock and I had in a long time. We got to see our boys=) Keep in mind that Brock hadn't seen them much either since he was gone on his trip and got quick visits from them too. It was fun to play with them in the lobby and out in the courtyard.

Also thru the course of the day we had lots of visitors! But unfortunately not many, except family got to meet Maylin this time around due to security and all that. First "round" was Grandma Kropf, Pastor Rich and his adorable family, Matt & JaNae--who brought the boys some fun play toys at the hospital and an adorable onesie set:) , Uncle Don and Aunt Terry, and later in the evening was Brian, Buff and little Whitney!
Here's Aunt Buff meeting Maylin for the first time

Late that night Maylin was given her 1st bath! Here they are sponging her down....she wasn't a fan:)
She got to have all of her head-gear off so she could get all washed up...so awesome to see her cute little face=)

What girl doesn't LOVE getting her hair washed??:) She liked that part!
Finally in some clothes
Hey there beautiful!
Right after her bath Daddy got a real surprise...he finally got to hold his baby girl for the 1st time! And so did Mommy:) It was the best feeling ever. She's our little sweetie, and we're so in love with her!
